As the leading regional conflict prevention, early warning and peace building institution we “Empower Decision Making” through data based programming, evidence based Early Warning which seeks to “Influence Policy and Practice” at local, national, regional, continental and global level through our diverse network of CSO`s and strategic partnerships at continental and global level.

SAPPCs Impact Oriented Strategic Partnerships

CONTINENTAL LEVEL: Since 2018, SAPPC has been trained by the African Union Commission and directly inputs conflict data, analysis reports and alerts into the African Union Continental Early Warning System (CEWS) and the AU-PAPs Southern Africa Regional Early Warning Desk through its Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Trained regional CSO network of community monitors and reporters, who have expert training and have been equipped to carry out effective data collection, analysis, early warning reporting, proffering sustainable and context specific responses, policy and practice responses and solutions to relevant stakeholders. REGIONAL LEVEL: SAPPC works with Regional Economic Communities (RECs), namely SADC and COMESA in conflict prevention and early warning using a human security lens. SAPPC also influences national and regional policy and practice through data based or evidence- based policy and practice, briefs, reports and initiatives. In SADC, SAPPC works with the:

NATIONAL/LOCAL LEVEL: Across the 16 SADC Countries SAPPC works through an inclusive network of local CSO`s, directly affected communities and Experts to build peace, prevent violent conflict, support the development aspirations of national governments and local communities in partnership with CSOs, Community Leaders and National Governments.

INTERNATIONAL LEVEL: SAPPC is a Southern Africa Regional Representative and current Regional Secretariat of peace building CSOs members of Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) which is the worlds largest network of peace building CSOs working on conflict prevention and peacebuilding. Through GPPAC`s United Nations (UN) ECOSOC Status, SAPPC has been able to access UN Global policy platforms to and the European Union (EU) Policy space to advise, influence and shape global policy representing the usually marginalised, local community voices in Global policy platforms.

SAPPC Vision

To be the leading regional Conflict Prevention, Early Warning and Peace Building institution through effective data driven programming, early warning reporting and implementing practical context specific development initiatives to “Empower Decision Making” foster a peaceful and resilient Southern Africa region that is empowered to peacefully prevent, resolve and manage conflicts by not allowing the conflicts to turn violent and provide effectively response options to the regions peace and security threats.

SAPPC Mission

To empower stakeholders in decision making as an effective regional network focused on conflict prevention, data collection and early warning mechanisms anchored in regional collaboration, evidence/data based programing and analysis on peace and security matters across the SADC Region using a human security lens to engage, discuss, learn, share and exchange knowledge, experiences and strategies in conflict prevention, conflict management and peaceful resolution of conflicts in the SADC Region and beyond

Overall Goal

To support sustainable peace and development through comprehensive conflict prevention initiatives through strategic collaborations with relevant stakeholders, in local communities, Government, Regional, Continental and Global spaces to enable effective responses to our peace and security threats..

Objectives
  • To empower decision making through data driven analysis, policy and practice process.
  • To strengthen and support the national, regional and continental Early Warning Mechanisms through effective data collection, analysis, reporting and technical expertise.
  • Advocate for and use of effective and inclusive non-violent approaches to conflict prevention, resolution and management.
  • Strategically harmonize regional conflict prevention, early warning and peace building initiatives through effective CSO members coordination and networking in the Southern Africa Region.
  • To train and capacity build CSOs, marginalized and vulnerable groups, Youth, Women People Living With Disabilities), SADC and COMESA Member State Governments and other relevant stakeholders in conflict prevention, peace building, early warning, and non-violent dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • To develop and support community, national, regional and continental conflict prevention and Infrastructures for Peace (I4P) through proffering context specific solutions to address current, new and emerging threats to peace and security, such as, Climate Change, Violent Conflicts, Violent Extremism, Terrorism, human rights violations, Governance and Electoral challenges, transnational organized crime and the proliferation of arms amongst many others.
